Macquarie Island 2003

Journal - January 2004 [pg1, pg2, pg3]

Happy new year !
The theme for New Years Eve at Macca this year was Austin Powers - 1960/70's Cocktail party "yeah baby". We all turned out in our grooviest gear to celebrate the end of 2003 and the beginning of 2004. Dr Evil, Austin Powers, Fat Bastard, and a host of other cool cats were present to cast the clock back to an era of peace, free love and flower power - "yeah baby", with some wild cocktail concoctions whipped up by our barman extraordinaire - Wazza. The party crawled on to the wee hours of the first day of 2004, of which most of us saw very little of!

Shortly after the new year I took the opportunity to get away for a few days and visit Brothers Point, Green Gorge and Bauer Bay (see next page >), then on the following weekend - 10th and 11th of January we had our fourth tourist ship for the year visit us, this is the third visit for the Akademik Shokalski operated by Heritage Expeditions for this summer season. They had some excellent weather accompanied by the usual Macca hospitality and scenery. Click here for more information.
