1911: Caroline Cove on the south west coast, one of the most beautiful places on the island, looking north to Cape Star.
2003: Still just as beautiful and still home to lots of penguins and elephant seals.

1911: A prominent outcrop of 'pillow lava' on the high plateau in the centre of the island.
2003: The distribution of bare patches in the 'feldmark' vegetation below the outcrop is still almost identical.
