Training cont.. [pg1, pg2, pg3, pg4]

The Fire training or Emergency Response Team training as it is now known is a full on 7 day training program to teach us how to respond to any emergency situations which may arise, in particular fire, confined space rescue, and emergencies requiring breathing apparatus (BA). It is essential that we become proficient in these skills as fire is the number one threat to life in an Antarctic / Sub Antarctic base. As the emergency response team we are solely responsible to resolve any situation which may arise which could threaten life or property on station. Unlike on the mainland we cannot simply ring 000 and wait for backup, it's entirely up to us.
