COMMENT
September weather averages on Macquarie Island have mostly approached their long term
Means. The middle of the month was characterised by an extended period of high pressure
and low wind, which helped to make life very pleasant on the island.
Perhaps, as a result of the High pressure system, the number of days of Frost was
markedly higher than normal. We record Frost when the overnight air temperature
immediately above the ground is equal to or lower than minus 0.9 deg C.
Precipitation was below average, and noticably lower than the September record
of 134 mm, recorded last year.
Tim James, Snr Observer.
