YEEEHAAAH!!
Wednesday the 20th, good news the Polar Bird is out of
the ice. The Aurora Australis was en route to assist the Bird out of the
ice however she managed to free herself under her own steam!! The Polar
Bird is now full steam ahead towards Hobart and is expected to dock on
27th or 28th of December, all going well we should be departing on the
30th or 31st express to Casey.

The day has finally come!! "D" day - departure day.
After a pre-departure briefing starting at 8.30am it

the safety aspects, life boat drills, and donning an imersion (survival)
suit, then its a tour around the Ship to get to know our home for the next
week or so. At 5pm its ta ta Hobart, ta ta Australia, ta ta the World as
we know it, we're off to Antarctica "yes".
